Learning Portuguese

Well, I never thought that when I go back to Africa, I would be learning Portuguese.  But here I am learning the language.  Apparently Mozambique was ruled by Portugal for hundreds of years and even though they are now independent, they still speak the language.

I suspect in a few months, I will start speaking a little Portuguese, and I do mean a little.

Other than learning the language I have been learning a lot about the culture and preparing myself for a 27 month journey that will bring me many adventures, stories and pictures to share with everyone.

If any of you are interested in reading a little about my assignment in Mozambique, follow the below link.

The start of Peace Corps

Well I have found out that I will defiantly be joining the Peace Corps this fall and will be staying in Mozambique for 27 months.  I am excited and nervous for the experience.

I leave on September 29th and will spend two day's in a location that has yet to be determined.  Here I will get my shots and a brief orientation to the Peace Corps.

From there, on October 1st I will be flying to Mozambique, where I will do a 3 month home stay, with a local family.  I will become accustomed to the life of Mozambique and the family.  After the three months I will be assigned to a location where I will begin to teach.

Crazy stuff, but I am super excited about the adventure that lies before me.

More to come soon!
