Day 1 Philly

Well my first day of being a Peace Corps volunteer is officially over.  I am in Philly right now.  I have only been here for a few hours, but my hotel is within walking distance of the Liberty Bell.  I went there and saw some historic down Town areas and of course ate my very first Philly Cheesteak.

Hope all is well in Washington.  I am thinking of everyone.

Less than a few weeks to go!

Well, I am busy putting the final touches on my plans to head over to Mozambique for a two year stay.  I will be flying out of Seattle on the 27th of September.  I will leave at 8:30 and arrive in Philadelphia at 4:30 in the evening.  I will spend a few days there, getting an introduction to the Peace Corps, getting my shots and getting to know the other volunteers.

On the 30th of September I will get back on a plane to Johannesburg, South Africa.  I will stay one night there and then be back on a plane in the morning to Maputo, Mozambique's capital city.

I will have a three month stay with a family in the capital.  During that three months, I will undergo training, get used to the language and the culture.  I will then be sworn in and my two years of service will officially begin.

It will go by quickly, even though it seams so far away.

Peace!

David
